Bloxham Village Blog!

As an experiment we have added a blog (or weblog) to the site (see clickable link in the left-hand margin. This gives you a quick way of leaving your views, opinions and feedback in a way that is  viewable by all. Simply click the 'comment' link on the blog page and away you go. As with all blogs you need to create an account for yourself - it's free and takes 30 seconds. You can also create a 'feed' to your computer so that you are immediately updated of any new blog additions or updates to the Bloxham Village Website. I have started the blog off  - please feel free to add to it! ..... Matt

Another Bloxham! Susan Denny writes...

Bloxham is a small rural community on the shores of beautiful Lake Talquin  near Tallahassee, Florida.  In Bloxham there is Lake Talquin General Store where visitors and residents can buy everything from fresh vegtables to hunting and fishing supplies.  Lake Talquin Baptist Church is also in Bloxham, as well as many other smaller churches.  The library, community center, and school is located in nearby Fort Braden, where I actually live. Here are some pictures of the Fort Braden community center which also gives a good feel for the area.

Bloxham School Outcry

We have had an unprecedented number of emails and calls requesting that we highlight the fact that three much loved members of the Bloxham School Music Department were apparently sacked at the start of the Easter vacation. So far, over a hundred pupils and parents have already put their name to a petition. We asked the headmaster to comment but thus far he has declined.*

Mark Carter writes...

My name is Mark Carter and I have recently taken over the role of Course Leader in English as a Foreign Language at the Banbury and Bicester campuses of Oxford and Cherwell Valley College. I am writing to introduce myself and the services we offer at the college for speakers of other languages looking to improve their English. We have courses to suit most levels with times in the mornings, afternoons and early evenings available. Subsidised rates are available depending on length of UK residence.

My hope is that employers of foreign nationals can be made aware of what we offer.

Bloxham Pre-School News

We are celebrating the 40th year of Bloxham Pre-School in this year and are planning a celebration on the evening of the Thursday 8th May. All those with past and present connections with the Pre-School/playgroup will be very welcome.  We unfortunately lost many of our old newspaper clippings and photographs in the fire of 2004 so if anyone has kept any they would be gratefully received.  If anyone would like to make any suggestions of how to mark this birthday then please contact me via the Pre-School. – Ann Kaura, chairperson Bloxham Pre-School

Help Required

My husband & I are considering buying a property in Bloxham. Since I am a keen gardener, I would like to know if there are any council or privately owned allotments close to the village. I have tried searching on the internet but so far have only found details of allotments in Bodicote. I look forward to hearing from you with any information on locations &/or contacts. Please post your answers to : lisaclaredavies@yahoo.co.uk
